J. Maxwell is a poet and artist that was born June 11, 1990 in Bellevue, WA. He started writing when he was in high school as a means of escape from his mental health sturggles. He attended the University of Nevada, Reno where he received a Bachelor's of Arts with a dual major in Creative Writing and in Philosophy. He now resides in Texas with his wife, his chihuahua, and his cat where he is pursuing a new degree in Substance Abuse Counseling with a goal of integrating his love of art and writing into a therapy program for those who struggle with addiction and mental illness. Maxwell was a previous addict and has been sober since May 19, 2020.​
